Dental Fears

Welcome to Madan Multi Specialty Dental Care Center Congratulations on taking the first step to overcoming your fear of dentists. At dentalfear.com you will have access to information that will help you to find a dentist who understands and treats patients with dental fears. You will find information on techniques used to calm patients and techniques that are painless. We speak plain language at this site so you should have no trouble understanding what we are talking about.

This site is a free resource for patients to come to get useful information about dentistry and fear. You will be able to ask questions of a nationally known dentist who treats primarily fearful patients.

We will also include other specialists such as psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers to provide information on helping you cope with dental fear.

What causes dental fear?

The most common cause is a traumatic dental experience at an early age. This is why regular preventive dental care to prevent dental problems is so important. Other causes include childhood sexual abuse, claustrophobia, agoraphobia, cross phobias (where patients exhibit a number of phobic disorders), panic disorders, anxiety disorders and what I call phobia by association. Phobia by association happens when a patient learns to fear something without any direct experience. An example would be when peers try to scare a child by telling him the dentist is going to hurt him.
